DI-vine Love at DI Author: Roshan Choudhury   Posted On: 16 Feb 2020

Twinkling red lights greeted members and guests as they walked down the parking towards the main club buildings, giving a tantalizing glimpse of the celebrations planned for the Evening of Love@DI. DI had laid out the proverbial red carpet for all our members as it geared up to celebrate Valentine's day. A vibrant selfie corner bedecked with red and white hearts looked inviting.  Red heart-shaped balloons decorated our DI Bar, the venue for the Valentine's day celebrations.

Crest, known as a love music band was perfect to celebrate the evening of love. Wonderful music, the soulful and appealing voices of Chandni, Jeffrey, Steven and Stafford invited the lovely Valentine enthusiasts onto the dance floor.

Gorgeous ladies in red and black, men looking smart in black were all set to dance the night away with their friends and their very special Valentines. Within minutes, the dance floor was filled with happy dancers as they matched their moves to the beats of Crest. Being a regular band at DI, Crest belted out several DI favourites like 'Rock n roll' 'Stupid Cupid' calling them the 'Anthems of DI'. Alternating between fast dance pop music and slow-dance numbers, Crest was able to beautifully balance the mood of the evening. After the  energetic jiving to rock numbers,  the romantic songs had couples dancing together.

Happy Birthday was sung for our very own Jennifer Paes who celebrated along with friends and family.   "Baby, I'd want you to want me, the way that I want you"' certainly touched a chord with the members as they thronged the dancefloor. 'Achy Breaky heart' had regulars start a Line dance.
Friends and couples danced  enthusiastically as they soaked in the LOVE-ly ambience and vibrant music in the bar.

'I can't help falling in love with you' was the perfect song before the band called for a break. Every table had happy friends and couples, laughing and enjoying. Every table, every chair was taken on this night of celebrating love.
The Courtyard@DI too was full. As I stepped out during the break, I overheard a child explain to his bemused mum that Valentine's day was a day for couples, not restricted to opposite gender couples only. It was good to see the next generation embracing equality at all levels. Friends too can spend Valentine's day together and enjoy. The high footfall was testimony to the fact.

To add to the excitement, DI had arranged some engaging games and prizes. The lady with a red dress and shoes, couple in red, spot dance and Lovey-dovey couple were some of the categories that had our members win very apt and thoughtful prizes of bottles of wine and chocolates.

The last half hour, had everyone on the dancefloor. The ever popular number, 'Great balls of fire' had people dancing enthusiastically. Crest dedicated, 'Pretty Woman' to all the pretty ladies at the DI. The night ended all too soon, but we all went home with memories of a Valentine night to remember.
