Holi on the Weekend Author: Shishir Goenka   Posted On: 25 Mar 2019

An extended weekend saw Holi being celebrated across the country on Thursday, and by the DI on Saturday in the Main bar. The evening was themed aptly as ' Holi Rang Barse ', a phrase borrowed from a popular Bollywood song of the 80's era.

The club was buzzing with a lot of activities on the day. There was a kids workshop from the early evening, and there was the IPL opening game screened at Courtyard@DI, which in a kind of a way gave a perfect build up in the terms of the crowd visiting the club for the evening.

The decorations in the bar very aptly matched the colourful theme of the event. Bright colors of yellow, blue and red highlighted the walls and the ceiling. The counter had an interesting multi color decor of  pichkaari cut outs , something of a first of its kind I would like to believe.

The entertainment part was taken care of by DJ Sheikh. The up side to having a DJ is that they primarily are aware of the kind of music a particular event requires and what the crowd enjoys, and they are more open towards requests from the guests.

The festival of Holi has three main ingredients: Playing with colours, music and food (that too in abundance)! While the first ingredient was missing for the evening, and thankfully too, there was no missing out on music and food. Live counters from in-house caterers New Deeya Bati and Go Lebanese were spread out in the lawn.

Food options matched the flavour of the Holi festival . Victoria Bara, Chilla chaat and Dahi puchka were quickly flying off the counters. Kesariya Thandaai, a fresh cool drink that is synonymous with Holi was being served in a 'kullad' (earthen pot).

In Live@DI, prizes (in bottles!) were awarded to guests who impressed with the best dance moves, towards the latter part of the evening.

Bhang or no Bhang, DI celebrated the festival of colors with a lot of fun, dancing and panache.
