The DI organised a pre holi get-together on Saturday, 7 March 2020 with Imran Qaisar and his band. The venue for the celebrations was Live@DI. The bar was decorated with balloons and 'happy holi' danglers.
The festive menu for this special weekend had live Chaat counters, the famous Victoria pakoras, fish fingers and Thandai. Served in earthen glasses, the Thandai was a festive delight.
The band played a blend of popular numbers from the '70s, '80s and '90s as well as popular numbers from the new millennium. The bar was full and every table, every chair was taken. Members with tables very kindly shared their tables with others who were not in time to get one for themselves. The audience thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful singing of Imran and the fantastic music by the band.
The enthused crowd went crazy when Imran started singing the ever popular holi songs like 'Rang barse'. Appreciative whistles could be heard from our star regular 'whistle-blowers' adding to the energy of the evening.
'Jai jai shiv shankar' got a beautiful, elegant lady in a gorgeous light blue sari, get up and come to the dancefloor and dance. She had surely seen a few decades of holis, and it was a delight to see her enjoy and dance with abandon. Inspired by her more joined the dancefloor. Mrs. Bose received a special prize for her inspiring dancing.
More popular numbers like 'Khai ke paan banaras wala', 'Yaroon ne mere vaste' got almost all to leave their seats and start shaking a leg. The Pre Holi party was a sure hit and members and guests could be seen swaying, laughing and enjoying thoroughly.
