Raining Trophies at the BRC Carnival Author: Samir Doshi   Posted On: 17 Dec 2018

On a Sunday that Kolkata got its first winter showers it 'Rained Trophies' for the DI teams at the BRC Inter club sports carnival.

The BRC sports carnival is one of the largest inter club carnivals in the city. This year 14 clubs had registered to take part, with two unfortunately unable to put up teams just before the start of the carnival.
DI  put up teams in 12 different sports from the 13 that were being played.
Out of these 12 different sports 7 of our teams made it to the finals! And that's how it 'rained trophies' for us. We won the Table Tennis final and were runners up in Cricket, Badminton, Darts, Snooker, Poker and Indoor rowing. In Futsol, Squash and Pool we made it to the semi finals. The Swimming team finished an overall fourth on points and Chess did very well in the league stages.

It was an incredibly outstanding performance by the DI teams! To finish runners up amongst 12 clubs and 400 participants is a wonderful achievement.

Our teams showed amazing bonding and spirit and turned out all seven days of the Carnival with a fire in their belly to win for the club and make the club proud.
Members across age groups from 7 year olds to 70 years old all turned out unflinchingly and spent hours on the field to play. Some had left early from work and some had missed their studies and classes. Social commitments took a back seat and travel plans were adjusted. This was the true DI spirit on display.

Many  congratulations to all the team members, the members in charge of the various sports, members who turned out to support and cheer our teams. We wish them more and more of such successes.
