Team DI at CICST 2017 Author: Samir Doshi   Posted On: 15 Nov 2017

The third leg of the four Team CICST 2017 (Calcutta Inter Club Swimming Trophy) saw Team DI putting up a very good performance winning quite a few Gold, Silver and Bronzes . The CICST is an annual four leg meet started last year jointly  by CCFC, DI, RCGC and BRC.

The third leg  was held at Bengal Rowing Club on the 12th Of November, 2017. Team DI did extremely well to win 9 Gold medals, 10 Silver Medals and 12 Bronze Medals. There were some amazing individual performances which saw ALI ASGAR LOKHANDWALA win the individual championship in the Under 10 Years age Category and PAARTH SABHARWAL win the individual championship in the Over 20 Years age category. Congratulations to them!!

Special mention needs to made of some individual swimmers. The youngest swimmer in the meet was Ananya Agarwal from Di who is not yet 8 Years old. Ananya did not even know how to swim when she joined the Advanced Swimming Coaching camp being held in DI.  It’s only being two months that she has joined the camp and  has already won her first medal at this meet by coming 3rd in the back stroke!! Amazing stuff! Congratulations to her and wishing her all the very best for the future.

Harris Elias one of our senior swimmers showed awesome spirit by coming out to swim for the club in a half an hour notice when another of our senior swimmers called in sick with very high fever. And this is very special because Harris is just recovering from a dislocated shoulder and this was the first time he was going to swim after his injury. Harris came second and third in his races. Kudos to him! The DI spirit is truly alive and kicking!!

The ‘Ghosh family’ so to say is the ‘first family’ of the DI swimming fraternity. Prasenjit, Jashodhara and Shaon their daughter have been an integral part of the DI swimming team for the last two years. There has been no meet that they have swum in and not won a medal. Both Prasenjit and Jashodhara were not too well but came out to swim for DI and won us medals. Shoan missed being the Individual Champion in her category by a few points. Thank you much to all three!

A very happy day out in the pool for DI and we hope to keep improving and see happier days! Congratulations to all those who swam for DI.
